The
Lemoendoorn getaway cottage is situated between Potchefstroom and Viljoenskroon on the
banks of the Rhenoster River amongst many indigenous trees. Surrounded by a
spacious lawn under shady trees, it is ideal for cricket, baseball, volleyball
or to practice your golf shots. In front of the cottage is the big swimming
hole with safe swimming. Diving is not recommended. Bring own canoes.
Fishermen can try to bait bass, carp and "onderbekkies". Splash pool
(unfenced). A tree house – where children can have an adventurous sleep out
and jungle gym are new additions. Pets are welcome. Guests can walk the ±3 km
to the sand dunes - an interesting natural phenomenon following the drought
and relentless winds of the early 1930's. Several farm tracks or gravel roads
offer mountain biking. Bird life is plentiful along the river. Small game like
duiker, steenbok, aardvark, mongoose and porcupine may be seen. Fireplace with
wood and coal supplied and a television is offered. This farm is pet friendly.
Lemoendoorn cottage will offer you a serene stay on the banks of one of the
north-western Free State Rivers.
