Walking Trails: There is a number of trails on and around Pleasant Places and adjacent properties. These are Walking Trails as as opposed to Hiking Trails. Discover some of the most beautiful, interesting, exclusive and undiscovered areas of the Natal Midlands on foot. No need to tote a backpack; carry only your binoculars, camera, water bottle, sun block and your cell phone, so that, should you tire prematurely, establishment  can arrange to collect you at a suitable point. Amble around host property- go down to the dam or the river below the house. Walk on neighbouring farms - saunters to suit all levels of fitness.
Fishing - trout and bass fishing on well-stocked, secluded private dams.
Birding - see a wide variety of birds on host property and surrounding farms. Here establishment see a regular visitor to host feeder, the Pin-tailed Whydah bird.
Seed is placed on this feeder just before breakfast, right outside the dining room window, attracting a large variety of garden and wild birds for your early morning enjoyment.
Spend a day at Midmar Dam - Enjoy sailing, walking, relaxing, picnicking or whatever takes your fancy. During the week this is the perfect, secluded spot to dream and catch up with life. A wonderful place to take family or friends for that special occasion! On your way there, stop awhile and reflect at the monument marking the spot where Nelson Mandela was arrested, disguised as a chauffeur and began his 27 years in jail.

Karkloof Canopy Tour - slide along cables 35 meters above the forest floor, observing birds, indigenous flora and fauna; a must for those seeking something out of the ordinary. Rides with experienced guides can be organized.
Horse riding - well-schooled thoroughbreds suitable for beginners to experienced; ride through indigenous forests and along country trails. Midlands Meander
Arts & Crafts Route - establishment  are in the centre of this well-known attraction; establishment will gladly advise routes to suit individual tastes and requirements.
Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve- 6 walking trails, for a great time outdoors.
Eat out at a local restaurant- there are some good restaurants in the area; establishment will advise which to visit and opening times. Abseiling down the Howick Falls close on 100 meters to the bottom, or at the Canopy Tour- be adventurous, be brave.
Waterfalls - visit the well-known Howick Falls or the attractive Karkloof Falls.
Picnicking - there are many sites in the area; a favourites are at Karkloof Falls.
