The newly renovated Rupara Rest Camp accommodation and camping have 4 double and 2 single sites facing the Harubandi Channel. Fireplace and water tap at the camping sites.
The sites share 2 new ablution blocks (hot water - wood donkey), borehole fresh water and 12V lights will be provided.

Self-catering fully equipped units will consist of 3 double chalets, and 1 family chalet (sleeps 2+3). Private ablution (hot water - wood donkey), borehole fresh water and 12V lights will be provided).

History:

Rupara Camp was a community-owned and operated camp set in a tranquil wilderness setting near Mamili National Park. Visitors have with easy access to both Mudumu and Mamili National Parks. Guided services and cultural attractions are available on request. The name of camp means "life" in Siyeyi language.

Guided tours and visits to local villages are made upon request for those that want to learn about the region’s flora, fauna, climate, geology, cultures and history. Hiking and canoeing tours can also be arranged.

Flora & Fauna at Rupara Camp

This region was originally a floodplain but is now a mosaic of wood and grasslands. Wildlife is plentiful here. Species that are found around camp and in the nearby National Parks include lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, roan, tsessebe, impala, kudu, duiker, reedbuck, wildebeest, warthog and reedbuck.

How to reach Rupara Camp

Rupara Camp is located 8 kilometers south of Sangwali Village and 1 kilometer from the entrance to Mamili National Park. It can be reached via road C49. Drive approximately 145 km from Katima Mulilo and turn onto road D3518 towards Sangwali Village. Alternatively, turn onto road C49 from Kongola, and drive approximately 60 kilometers before you turn onto D3518 toward Sangwali Village.

Bwabwata National Park in Western Caprivi is still seen as a well-kept secret among travellers to Namibia. If you are looking for a secluded and idyllic spot for camping, and if you are driving a 4x4, then Rupara Camp is just the place for you to camp.

Attractions: This is the perfect spot for any game lover: Buffalo, Lion, Elephant, Leopard and many other species. Apart from an abundance of exciting wildlife Nambwa offers excellent bird-watching opportunities. The site also lends itself for memorable day-trips into Bwabwata National Park (previously Caprivi Game Reserve). The management is responsible for ensuring that income derived from the camp site is reinvested into conservation and used for uplifting the local communities.
