For those clients with limited time
available, this short safari is the perfect solution, departing around
lunchtime on Friday from Windhoek and returning early afternoon on Sunday.
Our base is close to the Sesriem gate with accommodation in permanent
adabo style tents and en suite facilities and stunning views across the
mountains and desert. An excellent way to experience the amazing sand dune
sea of the Namib and Sossusvlei region in this 3 days trip.
DAY 1 DESERT CAMP, NEAR SESRIEM
Departure is from Chameleon Guesthouse and Backpackers at around 12h00
(later in Summer). Driving via Rehoboth and Naukluft we arrive at our camp
mid afternoon and have a chance to relax and enjoy the views before taking
a short walk up to the nearby …… for sunset. Overnight in twin share
bedded permanent tents with en-suite facilities and deck with bench to
enjoy the stunning surrounding landscape. The camp also has a swimming
pool and bar to relax around. Dinner prepared by your guide with

DAY 2 DESERT CAMP, NEAR SESRIEM
Dawn departure from camp to arrive at the park gate for sunrise, this
is only about 3kms away. After paying for our park entry we drive to
Sossusvlei to appreciate the beauty of this place in early morning light
and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the region. We explore this unique
area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of
bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around,
contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours.
Before we leave this area we will stop at the famous Dune 45 and climb
this dune if we wish or just wander around the base. We return to Sesriem
and visit Sesriem Canyon on foot before arriving back at our tented camp
late afternoon to watch the sunset over this spectacular desert. Overnight

DAY 3 WINDHOEK
After a leisurely breakfast we return to Windhoek via Bullsport and
Rehoboth. We arrive prior to lunchtime where you will be dropped at your

Combine the towering sand dunes of
Sossusvlei with the oldest desert in the world and continue your journey
through this remarkable country into the north enjoying highlights such as
the wildlife kingdom of Etosha National Park safari. You have the
opportunity to meet and learn about the fascinating culture of the semi
nomadic Himba people in the far north as an OPTIONAL activity.
Day 1 SESRIEM
We depart from Chameleon Guesthouse and Backpackers at 08h30. Driving
through the rugged Khomas Hochland mountain range we descend to the desert
floor via the Gamsberg Pass, an imposing flat topped mountain and one of
the highest points in Namibia, which provides a dramatic back drop for our
roadside lunch. After a short stop at Solitaire, we arrive at camp mid
afternoon and enjoy a late afternoon walk across the desert to Elim’s Dune
on the edge of the famous sand dune sea with views across to the nearby
mountains. We return to camp just after sunset to enjoy our dinner

Day 2 SESRIEM
A pre-dawn departure from our campsite to drive to Sossusvlei, a 65kms
drive in the darkness witnessing first light and shadows on the sand dunes
before arriving at the heart of the famous sand dune sea of Namibia. We
watch the sunrise from this spectacular and unique area (dependent on
opening time of inner park gate). We head up a dune close to Sossusvlei
then walk to Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and
skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around, contrasting with a backdrop
of huge orange-red dunes that make for superb photographic opportunities.
We enjoy a mid morning brunch after exploring this dramatic and desolate
landscape before returning to camp for a swim and this afternoon explore
nearby Sesriem Canyon on foot. Enjoy another spectacular sunset surrounded
by this colourful desert and sleep under the bright stars of the southern

Day 3 DUNEDIN STAR GUESTHOUSE, SWAKOPMUND
Early morning departure from camp stopping at the one horse town of
Solitaire before continuing through the desert with its endless views
across the pastel-coloured gravel plains to the port town of Walvis Bay.
We visit the lagoon, which is a protected RAMSAR wetland site, where we
may see the many species of birds including Greater and Lesser Flamingos,
pelicans, avocets, plovers and the endemic Damara tern before a short stop
at the salt farm. We continue onto the quaint town of Swakopmund, full of
historic buildings and where your guide will assist those wishing to book
optional adventure activities such as sand boarding, quad biking, scenic
flights, parachuting, dolphin cruises to name but a few, which you have
time for this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Overnight in comfortable
twin/double rooms with en-suite bathroom close to the town centre. Laundry
facilities are available here. This evening’s meal is a group dinner in a

Day 4 SPITZKOPPE
This morning you have free time to visit the museum and aquarium,
explore the town, or partake in optional activities such as sand boarding
and quad biking. We depart after lunch, driving along a section of the
Skeleton Coast before turning inland for Spitzkoppe, a huge inselberg
towering above the dry desert plains and arriving late afternoon to set up
camp. We have the opportunity to explore the area and enjoy the wonderful
rock formations that have been created by erosion over thousands of years.

Day 5 HOBATERE CAMPSITE
This morning we enjoy a walk to Bushman’s Paradise, viewing the
ancient bushman paintings and vistas of the vast surrounding desert or you
may simply wander around the desert floor. From here our drive takes us
through some beautiful and dramatic landscapes arriving at camp late
afternoon. Hobatere borders western Etosha and the camp is set amongst
boulders and trees offering seclusion, however, game, including lion may
wander around freely and there are no fences to separate the camp from

Day 6 HOBATERE CAMPSITE
Today you can relax at the camp, enjoy a walk in the surrounding land
or watch the game from the nearby hide come to drink at the waterhole,
alternatively join an OPTIONAL day trip through to Opuwo and visit the
local himba tribes. These remarkable and proud people live in the Kunene
region. Formally cattle/goat herders some still live a traditional life
style in this harsh environment. You will be accompanied by a local guide
who will translate all your questions giving you a chance to find how they
survive in today’s modern world learn about their fascinating culture. We
return to camp late afternoon and you can sit at the waterhole watching

Day 7 OKAUKEUJO, ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We depart for Etosha entering through the western gate and game
driving through to Okaukuejo. This massive park is a haven for wildlife
and supports one of the most important ecological and wildlife systems on
the continent. After setting up our tents we take a late afternoon game
drive visiting the surrounding waterholes looking for species such as
elephant, lion, rhino, kudu, giraffe as well as the large herds of
springbok, zebra and wildebeest that survive in this region. Dinner
prepared by guide and camp assistant. Evening viewing at flood lit

Day 8 ONGUMA CAMP
Sunrise departure from camp for full morning game drive transiting
across the park visiting various waterholes along the way and look out for
the many species of animals. We spend the hottest part of the day at
Halali camp where we have lunch and enjoy a swim or an afternoon snooze.
Late afternoon game drive to Namutoni via the famous Etosha Pan, a vast
depression which can even be seen from space and the white shimmering haze
disappearing into the horizon. Dinner prepared by guide and camp

Day 9 WATERBERG BUSH CAMP
After a leisurely breakfast we have a short stop at Lake Otjikoto
before collecting fresh supplies at Tsumeb and continuing on to Hoba
Meteorite, the largest single meteorite in the world for lunch. We arrive
late afternoon at Waterberg Bush camp at the eastern end of the Plateau.
Witness the fabulous colours of the lichen growing on the rock face of the
plateau at sunset from the top of the plateau directly above our camp and
enjoy the views across the Kalahari. There are plenty of animals wandering
freely in this area such as eland, ostrich, springbok, kudu and impala.

Day 10 WINDHOEK
Your guide will lead you on a short hike through the ravine at the
base of the plateau. After brunch we return to Windhoek via the Okahandja
Craft Markets for those last minute gifts. We arrive at Chameleon

Day 4 DUNEDIN STAR SWAKOPMUND
A chance for you to relax today or you may wish to enjoy optional
activities such as dolphin cruising, maybe sandboarding or quad biking.
Alternatively you can walk along the beach or visit the museum and
aquarium, enjoy coffee and cake at one or the many cafes or wander along
the beach listening to the roar of the waves of the mighty Atlantic Ocean
- the choice is yours. Overnight is in twin room with en-suite facilities.

Day 5 TWYFELFONTEIN COUNTRY LODGE, DAMARALAND
We leave after breakfast and head north along the Skeleton Coast seeing
the gravel plains and desert opening up around us with the ocean crashing
down onto the shore. We visit Cape Cross, home of thousands of Cape Fur
Seals, during the breeding season over 100,000 are crammed onto the beach
fighting for space. We turn inland and drive past Brandberg, the highest
point in Namibia and a huge massif rising up over the plains to
Twyfelfontein.
The Twyfelfontein area, a very vulnerable and delicate ecosystem, is
renowned for some of the best examples of Rock Paintings and Engravings in
Southern Africa. Interesting rock formations and the remainder of
prehistoric volcanic action can be seen in the Organ Pipes and Burnt
Mountain, among the most prominent geographic features. The fauna and
flora of Damaraland include; plants such as Welwitschia, Moringa and a
variety of Commiphora species and animals such as the Desert Elephant,
Rhinoceros, Giraffe, Springbok, Oryx and Ostrich living in total harmony
with the community and the communal farming activities of the Uibasen
Twyfelfontein Conservancy. The lodge, situated in the heart of the
Twyfelfontein Uibasen Conservancy has en suite double rooms, reception,
lounge, curio shop, dining room (open), bar and swimming pool. The
development was done to minimise the visual impact on the environment and
blends into the mountainside with the use of thatch roofs, natural stone
and paint colours blending with the surrounding rock formations. We visit
the rock etchings with a local guide who will explain the history and

Day 6 OPUWO COUNTRY LODGE
We drive north crossing a mountain pass keeping our eyes open for the
desert elephant that roam freely in this area and also stop to gaze at the
mighty baobab forest before arriving at Opuwo. This town is a real mixture
of modern and old, dusty streets, goats and cattle wander on the road yet
modern life has also reached here. This afternoon we will take a local
guide and head out to visit a local Himba village. (Should time not permit
this afternoon we will visit the village tomorrow morning.) We will be
able to witness how this tribe still survive off the land tending their
cattle and goats and see the women prepare food as well as prepare the
ochre and butter fat that they put on their skin to protect it from the
harsh environment. The local guide will be able to translate all of your
questions and the kids normally play together happily teaching and sharing
things with each other. We return to our lodge later this afternoon.

Day 7-9 ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Our destination is Etosha and we follow the road south before entering the
Park from the Western Gate. We’ll spend the next few days enjoying game
drives in this premier park, one of the largest and best reserves in
Africa. Etosha is over 22,000 sq kms and home to many species of game
including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, hyena, giraffe as well as
antelope and over 340 species of birds so should keep you amused. We will
spend nights in each of the rest camps in twin room share accommodation.
Dinner prepared by guide, evening spent around the floodlit waterhole
watching the game come to quench their thirst. This park is recognised as
one of the best game parks in Southern Africa for the numbers and various
species of game as well as the interesting geology. Each of the rest camps
have a swimming pool, bar, restaurant and small shop (BLD) Approx distance
180kms to Etosha gate, 200kms to Okaukuejo. Game drives approx 250-300kms
Day 10 FRANS INDONGO, NR OTJIWARONGO
After a short game drive this morning we leave Etosha behind us stopping
at Lake Otjikoto briefly before continuing our way back south. We will
arrive at Frans Indongo around lunchtime and this afternoon can enjoy a
trip to Cheetah Conservation Fund to their educational centre, maybe if we
are lucky we will also see the cheetah feeding. This international
conservation programme promotes the protection of these great predators to
ensure their ongoing survival. Namibia has the largest wild population of
cheetah as many live on farmlands where there is conflict between them and
humans. This project helps to educate the people to the benefits of not
killing the cheetah and trains dogs to protect the livestock from predator

We return to Windhoek today after stopping at the craft markets in
Okahandja where you can watch the various crafts being carved in wood. You

will already have been set up and you will have a chance to relax and
visit the local San village to experience the daily life as it exists
today. The local San woman make exquisite jewellery hand crafted from
ostrich shell and other items sourced from their surroundings. Around
sunset you can enjoy the singing, dancing and story telling of the san
people and have a chance to chat about day-to-day life. Evening spent

Day 2 SESRIEM
This morning we can walk with a San tracker to learn how their forefathers
would have hunted and collected food as well as discuss how they survive
in today’s modern world and the traditions that have survived (this
activity may also be run on day 1). From here there is a long drive
through to Sesriem, heading through mountain and desert landscapes. Enjoy
an unforgettable sunset over the desert and surrounding mountain ranges

Day 3 SESRIEM
We depart camp one hour prior to sunrise and drive down an ancient
riverbed surrounded by towering sand dunes. Our first stop is Sossusvlei
where the dunes are at their most spectacular just after sunrise and
witness the changing colours of these famous sand dunes as long shadows
are cast and gradually lessen as the sun rises higher in the sky and the
deep intense colours turn to pastel shades. We enjoy brunch under the
shade of the acacia trees before exploring on foot Dead Vlei, a dramatic
vlei with ancient, skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around the
shimmering pan. We return to camp to relax during the hottest part of the
day and later this afternoon we explore the nearby Sesriem Canyon and top
off the day with a climb on Elim’s Dune for sunset and drinks. Overnight

Day 4 SWAKOPMUND, BED AND BREAKFAST
Departing camp after breakfast we drive through the heart of the Namib
with panoramic views across the dry, unforgiving desert. We stop at the
port town of Walvis Bay on the edge of the lagoon, a RAMSAR wetland site
where we may see the many species of aquatic birds that make their home
here such as the greater and lesser flamingos, pelicans, avocets and the
endemic Damara tern. We also see the salt farms and learn more about this
fascinating industry that is one of the most important exports of the
country. We arrive mid afternoon in the quaint town of Swakopmund and
relax for the afternoon. Overnight we are based in twin share rooms with

Day 5 SWAKOPMUND, BED AND BREAKFAST
Full day at leisure for optional activities which your guide will be able
to assist you with – maybe take a spectacular scenic flight over the
desert, a dolphin cruise and enjoy a champagne breakfast on board, or try
tandem skydiving, sand boarding or quad biking to name but a few of your
choices. You may just wish to wander around the streets enjoying the charm
and colonial elegance of many of the buildings, visit the museum or
aquarium or wander along the beach listening to the roar of the Atlantic

Day 6 GROOTBERG LODGE, DAMARALAND
Travelling north along the coast we make a brief stop at the lichen
fields, an important ecological site before continuing our way to visit
the seal colony at Cape Cross, here thousands of Cape Fur seals live and
breed on the beach. We journey further north along the coast and enter the
Skeleton Coast National Park, visiting a small shipwreck. Heading inland
we look at some of the fascinating plant life including the Welwitschia
mirabilis that can live for over a thousand years, the landscape
dramatically changes as the imposing, ancient mountain ranges come into
view. We arrive at the lodge late afternoon. The lodge offers wonderful

Day 7 GROOTBERG LODGE, DAMARALAND
A wonderful adventure awaits us today. We can enjoy rhino tracking with
local trackers and guides to search for the bull rhinos that are living in
this conservancy region. Relocated from the Torra Conservancy by Ministry
of Environment and Tourism in mid 2006, they are now settling into their
surroundings. You will head out into this concession land using telemetry
equipment and initially tracking from a vehicle and then on foot. Please
note you should be of reasonable fitness to participate in this activity.
Alternatively, there are other excursions you can join such a visit to a
local Himba community to meet these proud nomadic people or join a game
drive. Note: no children under 12 able to join the rhino tracking and min

Day 8 OKAUKUEJO, ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We enter Etosha through the Western Gate that is reserved for Namibian
Tour Operators only. We game drive through this little travelled area
looking for the many species present. If time permits we can enjoy a game
drive later this afternoon or relax by the pool or waterhole at Okaukuejo.
The evening is spent at the floodlit waterhole by the camp to watch as the
animals come to drink. This is often a busy waterhole and many species
flock here to quench their thirst after sunset. Overnight under canvas

Day 9 HALALI, ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We follow the rhythm of the animals during our stay in Etosha – up early
to watch them feed in the coolness of the morning, return to camp then
head across to Halali our base for tonight. We’ll relax after lunch and
enjoy an optional afternoon game drive to nearby waterholes as they again
become active. Etosha is home to species of game including elephants,
black and white rhino, lion, leopard, endangered cheetah, hyena, giraffe
and numerous types of antelope, it’s a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. We
can spend the evening at the floodlit waterhole often visited by elephant,

Day 10 HALALI OR NAMUTONI, ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
We game drive early morning and return to camp for brunch. Today we
game drive and visit the stark Etosha Pan, where this park derives it’s
name, the white shimmering haze disappears into the horizon and indistinct
shapes gradually appear from this apparently lifeless wasteland as the
animals cross to the water holes scattered around the edge of the pans and
provide a vital life source. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and

Day 11 OKONJIMA MAIN CAMP/AFRI-CAT FOUNDATION
A final game drive before we leave Etosha behind and drive south to arrive
at Okonjima after lunch. The Afri-Cat Foundation is based here and is
devoted the conservation of predators specifically cheetah and leopard
with the aim to ease the conflict of interests that arises between humans
and carnivores. A large part of their work is in animal welfare –
rehabilitating and relocating animals, which have been causing problems in
their home territory and providing refuge and veterinary care for injured
or orphaned animals. This afternoon we will have close encounters with
large predators such as cheetah and leopard and get some excellent photo
opportunities. Overnight at Main Camp – twin share room with en suite

You can enjoy a self-guided walking trail looking for the many species of
birds before we transfer you to the airport in time for your onward flight

SOSSUSVLEI AND SWAKOPMUND EXCURSION

For those with limited time a trip to the famous red sand sea of
Sossusvlei is a must. As one of Namibia’s highlights the Namib is the
oldest desert in the world and you will have ample opportunity to explore
the dunes and enjoy the vast desert vista. To finish off we spend a night
in the coastal town of Swakopmund
Day 1 SESRIEM
We depart from Chameleon Guesthouse and Backpackers at 08h30. Driving
through the rugged Khomas Hochland mountain range we descend to the desert
floor via the Gamsberg Pass, an imposing flat topped mountain and one of
the highest points in Namibia, which provides a dramatic back drop for our
roadside lunch. After a short stop at Solitaire, we arrive at camp mid
afternoon and set up your tents underneath the ancient camel thorn trees
then enjoy a late afternoon walk across the desert to Elim’s Dune on the
edge of the famous sand dune sea with views across to the nearby
mountains. We return to camp just after sunset to enjoy our dinner

Day 2 SESRIEM
Pre dawn departure from camp to drive the 65km to Sossusvlei where we
watch the sunrise from this spectacular and unique area (dependent on
opening time of inner park gate). We head up a dune close to Sossusvlei
then walk to Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and
skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around, contrasting with a backdrop
of huge orange-red dunes that make for superb photographic opportunities.
We enjoy a mid morning brunch after exploring this dramatic and desolate
landscape before returning to camp for a swim and this afternoon explore
nearby Sesriem Canyon on foot. Enjoy another spectacular sunset surrounded
by this colourful desert and sleep under the bright stars of the southern

Day 3 DUNEDIN STAR GUESTHOUSE, SWAKOPMUND
Early morning departure from camp stopping at the one horse town of
Solitaire before continuing through the desert with its endless views
across the pastel-colored gravel plains to the port town of Walvis Bay. We
visit the lagoon, which is a protected RAMSAR wetland site, where we may
see the many species of birds including Greater and Lesser Flamingos,
pelicans, avocets, plovers and the endemic Damara Tern, then a short trip
to the nearby salt farm. We continue onto the quaint town of Swakopmund,
full of historic buildings and where your guide will assist those wishing
to book optional adventure activities such as sand boarding, quad biking,
scenic flights, parachuting, dolphin cruises to name but a few, which you
have time for this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Overnight in
comfortable twin/double rooms with en-suite bathroom close to the town
centre. Laundry facilities are available here. This evening’s meal is a

DAY 4 WINDHOEK
After breakfast you have the morning at leisure, enjoy optional
activities such as sand boarding or just explore the town and enjoy a
coffee and cake in one of the many cafes or wander along the beach
watching the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. After lunch your
vehicle will return to Windhoek via the Okahandja craft markets. (BL)

Day 1 SAN TA KO, BUSHMAN VILLAGE
You will be collected from your accommodation and then depart from
Chameleon backpackers around 8.30am driving through to Gobabis where we
will stop briefly to fresh supplies. From here we head South East, close
to the Botswana border, driving past saltpans and into the heart of the
Kalahari Desert. We arrive at the community campsite mid afternoon, set up
our tents and relax before meeting and enjoying the San people singing in
dancing around the campfire. There are normally many stories to tell

Day 2 WINDHOEK
This morning we walk with a local tracker and head into the bush and
learn how the bushmen traditionally hunted and collected veldt food,
naturally these days life is very different and you will have ample
opportunity to ask questions to find out about the change in their
lifestyle and how they survive in today’s modern world. We then visit a
local village and can see at first hand their day to day life, often we
can see them making ostrich shell jewellery or preparing food. After lunch
we head back to Windhoek arriving later in the afternoon and where you
will be dropped at your accommodation (BL)

Etosha National Park, renowned as one of the best game reserves in Africa,
is a haven for wildlife and supports one of the most important ecological
and wildlife systems on the continent. At 22,270 km sq this huge park
hosts an impressive collection of game including the white rhino and
endangered black rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, giraffe and
numerous species of antelope as well as an impressive 340 species of bird
- enough to keep any nature and wildlife enthusiast happy.

experience the vastness of this pan and marvel at the shimmering mirages

entering the Kalahari. We arrive at our camp mid afternoon and walk with a
San tracker to collect bush foods experiencing how the traditional San
collect veldt food –generally a fascinating experience for westerners
where we are able to ask questions of how they survive in today’s modern
world. This evening we join the local community around the campfire for

Day 4 GUMA LAGOON CAMP,
BOTSWANA
An early morning departure from camp takes us into the Kalahari basin
via Tsumkwe and into our neighbouring country, Botswana. The sandy track
takes us through the heart of the Kalahari to the panhandle section of the
Okavango Delta. The last 13kms are 4x4 only and some pushing maybe
required, but the jewel of the river edge awaits us at the end of the day
and this wetland lies like an oasis in an otherwise harsh environment.

Day 5 OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA
We take only what we need - each of our guests can take only 1 small
day pack and depart early morning initially in a motor boat before
transferring to our mokoros (dug out canoes), we relax while our polers
push us through this beautiful and serene area enjoying the tranquility of
the delta until we reach an island camp, our destination for the night.
We’ll have the opportunity to game walk and learn about this fragile and
unique ecosystem. Overnight bush camping under a million stars with no
facilities and evening meal prepared by the guide and camp assistant (BLD)
DAY 6 GUMA LAGOON CAMP, BOTSWANA
We enjoy more game walks and mokoro trails before we return to the
luxury of our camp early afternoon for hot showers and toilets. Overnight

DAY 7 SUSUWE NATIONAL PARK
An early morning start to cross the border back into Namibia and on to
Mahango Game Reserve. This little jewel of a game reserve is home to many
unusual species such as roan and sable antelope, buffalo, large herds of
elephant, hippo and many aquatic birds not found in many areas of Namibia.
We leave the park and have lunch overlooking Popa Falls before continuing
through the Caprivi Strip to Susuwe National Park. This is a wild park
where we camp without fences and spend an exhilarating night listening to
the night sounds of the animals and maybe get the chance to enjoy “close
up” encounters, please note that there are no fences and that wild animals
such as hyaena may wander through camp. Overnight camping and evening meal

DAY 8 LIVINGSTONE,
ZAMBIA
Enjoy breakfast and short game drive before heading through to Katima
Mulilo. This busy and bustling town is the last frontier of Namibia and we
glimpse our first sight of the mighty Zambezi River. We cross the border
into Zambia and have lunch at a scenic location along the roadside. We
arrive at Livingstone mid afternoon and we drop you at your accommodation
(BL). This should be pre-booked through Chameleon Safaris to enable you to
obtain a visa waiver from your accommodation establishment to avoid paying
the Zambian visa fee. We recommend Jolly Boys Backpackers, please note

An early morning departure from camp takes us into the Kalahari basin
via Tsumkwe and into our neighbouring country, Botswana. The sandy track
takes us through the heart of the Kalahari to the panhandle section of the
Okavango Delta. The last 13kms are 4x4 only and some pushing maybe required,
but the jewel of the river edge awaits us at the end of the day and this
wetland lies like an oasis in an otherwise harsh environment. Overnight
camping and evening meal prepared by the guide and camp assistant (BLD)
Day 9 OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA
We take only what we need – each of our guests can take only 1 small day
pack and depart early morning initially in a motor boat and then in a mokoro
(dug out canoe), we relax while our polers push us through this beautiful
and unique area enjoying the tranquillity of the delta until we reach an
island camp, our destination for the night. We’ll have the opportunity to
game walk and learn about this fragile and unique ecosystem. Overnight bush
camping under a million stars with no facilities and evening meal prepared
by the guide and camp assistant (BLD)
Day 10 GUMA LAGOON CAMP, BOTSWANA
We enjoy more game walks and mokoro rides before we return to the luxury
of our camp early afternoon for hot showers and toilets. Overnight camping
close to the river, and evening meal prepared by the guide and camp
assistant (BLD)
Day 11 SUSUWE NATIONAL PARK
An early morning start to cross the border back into Namibia and on to
Mahango Game Reserve. This little jewel of a game reserve is home to many
unusual species such as roan and sable antelope, buffalo, large herds of
elephant, hippo and many aquatic birds not found in many areas of Namibia.
We leave the park and have lunch overlooking Popa Falls before continuing
through the Caprivi Strip to Susuwe National Park. This is a wild park where
we camp without fences and spend an exhilarating night listening to the
night sounds of the animals and maybe get the chance to enjoy “close up”
encounters, please note that there are no fences and that wild animals such
as hyena may wander through camp. Overnight camping and evening meal
prepared by the guide and camp assistant (BLD)
Day 12 LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA
Breakfast and short game drive before heading through to Katima Mulilo.
This busy and bustling town is the last frontier of Namibia and we glimpse
our first sight of the mighty Zambezi River. We cross the border into Zambia
and have lunch at a scenic location along the roadside. We arrive at
Livingstone mid afternoon and we drop you at your accommodation. (B,L) This
should be pre-booked through Chameleon Safaris to enable you to obtain a
visa waiver from your accommodation establishment to avoid paying the
Zambian visa fee. We recommend Jolly Boys Backpackers, please note that this
service CANNOT be guaranteed
NOTE: This safari is designed for the adventure traveller, one who
enjoys pitching in to help, conversing with nature and does not mind the
discomfort of bush camping without shower and toilet facilities. Please
ensure that you have the necessary entry visas for Namibia, Botswana and
Zambia –THIMBI THIMBI ADVENTURE SAFARIS cannot be held liable and if you do
not have the appropriate visas you may not be able to enter the country
